Members of Congress will vote soon on the U.S. budget reconciliation package that includes many pieces of President Biden's Build Back Better agenda. Currently under threat is a key policy provision in the package that will lower the costs of prescription drugs.

Right now 1 in 5 American adults hold off on filling a prescription, cut pills in half, or skip a dose due to affordability. Allowing Medicare to negotiate drug prices is an efficient and effective policy that would save taxpayers hundreds of billions of dollars. Americans would no longer be forced to pay more for our drugs than any other nation in the world. 

Pharmaceutical companies though are fighting hard to stop this effort to rein in their never-ending price gouging! They are even funding false and misleading scaremongering ads and mailers with the intent to intimidate our Members of Congress to vote against their own constituents! Our members of Congress work for the people not Big Pharma.

According to a Patients for Affordable Drugs Now survey just released, more than 90% of NJ voters back reforms that give Medicare the power to negotiate lower drug prices, and close to 85% of NJ voters reject Pharma's claims that lower drug prices will harm innovation.

We must fight back against Pharma's lies. High drug prices have financed stock buybacks, not research and development as they try to claim. Also don't forget, taxpayer money helped fund the research, development, and distribution of the COVID-19 vaccines.

We need our NJ Congressional Representatives and Senators to stand up to Big Pharma and advocate on our behalf to lower the costs of Rx drugs! We can’t let Big Pharma continue to price gouge consumers and taxpayers!
