Mail-In-Voting Changes for NJ Primary (June 8, 2021)
The June 8th primaries will be conducted primarily IN-PERSON. Polling places will be OPEN for all voters who wish to cast their ballots on voting machines
This means that all registered voters will NOT automatically receive a mail-in ballot (as they did in November).
The only registered voters who previously applied to Vote By Mail in “all future elections” will receive a Vote By Mail Ballot.
For a Mail in Ballot for the Primary Election:
By mail: Apply by June 1 for a Mail-In Ballot
In person: Apply by 3:00 pm on June 7th to apply in person at the County Clerk of Elections office, 300 Halls Mills Rd, Freehold.
County Clerks begin sending out the primary election mail-in ballots on April 24, 2021

FYI – New Jersey holds partisan primary elections with separate ballots for the Republican and Democratic parties. A voter must be registered as a party member in order to participate in that party’s primary.
An unaffiliated voter can participate in the primary of his or her choice by affiliating with a party on the day of the election.
To change party affiliation in order to vote in the primary, a voter must submit an updated voter registration form no later than the 55th day before the primary (April 14, 2021)
