JOIN THE PUBLIC FORUM WEDNESDAY NIGHT IN JACKSON - BY EMPOWER NJ..
LETS DISCUSS WAYS TO STOP NEW FOSSIL FUEL PROJECTS IN NJ!
People for Progress is hosting leaders from the Empower NJ coalition (Jeff Tittel – Sierra Club; Amy Goldsmith – Clean Water Action and Junior Romero – Food & Water Watch) and urging you to attend the following urgent meeting:
DATE: Wednesday, June 19th
TIME: 7:00 PM
PLACE: Jackson Branch of the Ocean County Library, 2 Jackson Drive, Jackson, NJ
These environmental leaders will address this imminent climate emergency and will focus on the following FACTS:
.....New Jersey is particularly vulnerable to rising sea levels, increased flooding, more fierce storms and other devastating impacts from climate change.
.....There are 12 new fossil fuel projects moving forward in New Jersey, which would lock us into decades of increased greenhouse gas pollution and climate destruction.
.....Governor Murphy has committed NJ to uphold the goals of the Paris Climate Treaty and transition to 100% clean energy by 2050. He cannot achieve these goals if his administration approves new fossil fuel projects.
.....We need the governor to fulfill his commitments by enacting an emergency moratorium on fossil fuel projects.
We need to push for 21st Century solutions to our energy needs. We need educate the public that natural gas pipelines and power plants would not only have more disastrous climate and health impacts, but it would be counterproductive to and block Governor Murphy's 100% renewable goals. We need to ask Governor Murphy to take action and put a moratorium in place on fossil fuel pipelines and power plants. We need YOU to help us achieve these objectives.
